The State is going to tear that ramp down as part of the Community Grid project. What’s more, the state is also set to close and tear down the southbound connection if you’re driving the opposite way from the east….690 West to 81 South. It’s the FRIDAY FIVE. This week, we’re featuring the dynamic duo behind the line dancing sensation Two Left Boots, Misty and Carley! Special thanks to our friends at @CrouseHealth for helping bring fun stories like theirs to life each and every Friday in the FRIDAY FIVE!
If you’ve noticed line dancing making a big comeback here in Central New York, there’s a good chance Misty and Carley have something to do with it. Through Two Left Boots, they’re bringing people together, getting them out on the dance floor, and proving you don’t need to be a professional dancer to have a great time.
And what’s especially fun about these two is what they do when they’re not teaching people their next dance moves.
By day, Misty is helping people find their dream homes in real estate, while Carley splits her time between the Syracuse VA and the Air National Guard. But when the music starts, these two trade their busy schedules for cowboy boots and a dance floor full of people ready to have some fun.
As I got to know more about Misty and Carley while putting together this week’s FRIDAY FIVE, what stood out to me was their energy and passion for bringing people together. They’ve taken something they love and turned it into an experience that’s catching on across Central New York.
And if you’ve been wanting to give line dancing a try, here’s your chance! Two Left Boots will be at Beak & Skiff on November 19th, so mark your calendars and get ready to put those boots to work.

Since joining the Downtown Committee in 2004, Merike has been a driving force behind efforts to make downtown Syracuse a more vibrant, welcoming, and exciting place to live, work, and visit.
From supporting local businesses and attracting new investment to organizing events that bring thousands of people downtown, Merike and her team play an important role in the continued growth and revitalization of our city’s center.
As someone who spends a lot of time capturing Syracuse from above, I’ve had a front-row seat to the changes happening downtown. And I have a real appreciation for the people working behind the scenes to make those changes possible. Merike is certainly one of them.
What I appreciate about Merike’s work is that building a stronger downtown isn’t just about buildings and businesses. It’s about creating a place where people want to spend time, connect, and feel proud of their city.
