The Taste of an Upstate Childhood
Some foods are more than food. They are time machines.
Growing up in Upstate New York meant comfort in every bite. Fresh-picked apples from the orchard. Half-moon cookies from the local bakery. Red and white hot dogs at summer BBQs. Cinnamon sugar toast on chilly school mornings. Salt potatoes melting in butter. Honey sticks from roadside farm stands. Grandma’s slow-cooked baked beans.
It’s nostalgia on a plate, and I would relive it all in a heartbeat.

Every once in a while you get a moment that makes you pause and pinch yourself. For us, it is sitting down with Ted & Amy on 93Q. Hard to believe just two years ago I was sitting at a desk and how lucky I am to be sitting at THIS table now with these two incredible human beings talking about what we LOVE to do. We are blessed.

Green Lake at Green Lakes State Park is a meromictic lake, which means its layers of water almost never mix. Most lakes turn over every year, but Green Lake stays permanently layered. That rare chemistry has remained stable for thousands of years.
The stunning emerald color comes from tiny suspended calcium carbonate crystals in the water that reflect light and create that unreal green glow.

Is the Taste of Syracuse coming back in 2026? Or, EVER at all?!
Right now, the future of the beloved festival is uncertain after a new lawsuit revealed the company behind the event used Taste of Syracuse and the Syracuse Nationals as collateral for a $1.1 million short-term loan. According to court filings, the lender claims the company failed to repay the debt within the required timeframe and is now seeking control of key event assets and revenues.
What does this mean for this summer? As of now, there’s been no official cancellation…but the legal fight could complicate planning depending on how ownership and finances shake out.
We’ll all be watching closely in the coming weeks to see whether the long-running food festival can move forward as usual.

I’ve driven past this entrance more times than I can count, usually catching only small glimpses of the stone through heavy trees, shrubs, and layers of graffiti. It was always difficult to really see what was there. With the recent I-81 work, the historic gate at Oakwood Cemetery is finally back in full view…giving all of us a clearer look at how beautiful it once was.
Oakwood Cemetery was established in 1859 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The construction of I-81 in 1964 severed the cemetery’s original entrance, isolating this section for decades.
